The 36 years old returned to Manchester united after spending 12 years playing for Real Madrid and Juventus while Lionel Messi who toped the list last year left Barcelona for Paris Saint Germain.
According to Forbes, Ronaldo will earn $125m a year, $70m from his wages with Manchester united while he will earn further $55m from endorsement deals.
Lionel Messi who head the list last year is the second highest paid football player in the world.
He will earn the total of $110m a year, $75m from his salary with Paris Saint Germain and further $35m from endoresment deal.
